MS Ramaiah Medical
College (MSRMC), Bangalore was set up in the year 1979 and has since grown
into an institute of recognition and repute in India and abroad.
The college was initially associated to Bangalore
University. The college is now associated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health
Sciences (RGUHS).
The visionary behind MS Ramaiah Medical College is Mr. M.S.
Ramaiah who was a noted entrepreneur, an industrialist and a philosopher. His
dream was to educate the masses and to make a huge leap in the higher education
field by creating qualified professionals. “Gnanagangotri – Spring of
Knowledge” was a realization of his dreams. In 1962 he started Gokula
Educational Foundation and established many professional colleges.

MS Ramaiah Medical College offers several courses for

Master of Surgery (MS)
Master of Surgery is a three year post graduate program in
the surgical filed. It is commonly known
as the MS program and most of the medical universities under the MCI are
offering the courses to the aspirants. The MS holders are licensed to practice
and conduct surgery as part of medical treatment. The successful completion of
the programs enables the qualification in surgery and the personals become
certified Surgeons.
MS or Master of Surgery is a super specialty degree course
in medical science. The course is available in different branches of medical
science, such as Anatomy, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology,
Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics. It is a three-year post graduate degree
program in medical science and the candidates who join the course called
‘Junior Residents’ in the clinical disciplines and ‘Junior Demonstrators’ in
basic clinical disciplines. The candidates with MBBS degrees who have
registered permanently with Medical Council of India or any other State Medical
Councils are eligible for this Master of Surgery course.
The students to MS program are short listed on the basis of
merit in the entrance test and the choice of discipline is allocated on the
basis of personal counseling. At the time of pursuing MS course the students
get chance to work in medical college/hospital as well. After completion of the
course, they can join any medical college/university as faculty members or can
run their own clinic/ research laboratory or work in any government / private
