Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bangalore was set up in the year 1980. The institute is belongs to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and is recognized by Medical Council of India, New Delhi.

The institute is started under the Vokkaligara Sangha. The Vokkaligara Sangha is set up in 1906 to promote education in rural Mysore.
