Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) was
started in the year 1986.
The institute was started at BG Nagar, near Sri
Adichunchanagiri Kshetra with a dream of providing medical education to desire
students from rural areas.
The institute comes under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health
Sciences (RGUHS). Earlier it was under Mysore University.
A goal was opened by the Honorable Chief Minister of
Karnataka, Sri Ramakrishna Hegde on 17th Jan 1986 in the holy presence of
Padmabhushana Dr. Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji. An AIM has
evolved into a prestigious institution in the region since its inception.
It is first rural educational institution catering to the
health needs of the rural populace in preventive, therapeutic and
rehabilitative domains beside teaching and training for Undergraduate (UG) of
MBBS and Post Graduate (PG) students. The Institutions is recognized by Medical
Council of India (MCI) and General Medical Council of UK.
The departments of Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry,
Radiology, Medicine, Anesthesiology and Orthopedics possess modern high-tech
instruments are mentioned earlier. The diagnostic procedures that the carried
out are on par with the prescribed International Standards.
Campus of Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences –
An AIM is housed in a unitary campus near the teaching
hospital and has room for future expansion. The buildings are well-constructed
with good ventilation and comfortable seating arrangements.
