K S HEGDE MEDICAL ACADEMY
The K S Hegde Medical Academy was established in 1999 by the Nitte Education Trust (NET). The institute is named after the visionary and founder, late Justice K S Hegde, former Justice of the Supreme Court and former Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
The institution is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and is recognised by the Medical Council of India. A 600 bed teaching hospital - Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital with modern diagnostic facilities and super-specialities in Neurology, Neuro-Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Nephrology and Urology, is attached to the medical college.
The institute is situated on a 45 acre campus at Mangalore which is an important sea port on the West coast of Karnataka. It is the district headquarters and is well connected to the neighbouring states by an efficient network of road, rail and air transport.
Admissions
Eligibility criteria for M.D - M.S
The minimum qualification for admission to the postgraduate program is a MBBS degree or an equivalent degree recognised by the University and MCI.
The postgraduate programs namely, Doctor of Medicine (M.D) & Master of Surgery (M.S) are of 3 years duration and are offered in the following specialities:
M.D in Anaesthesiology, M.D in Dermatology, M.S in E.N.T, M.D in General Medicine, M.S in General Surgery, M.S in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, M.S in Ophthalmology, M.S in Orthopaedics, M.D in Paediatrics, M.D in Pathology, M.D in Radiology
